What: “Bats—Myth and Reality,” a talk by mammologist and world-renowned bat expert Don E. Wilson
Where: The Stamford Museum and Nature Center, 39 Scofieldtown Road
Details: Wilson is Curator Emeritus at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History and served as director of the Smithsonian’s Biodiversity Programs for a decade. A distinguished mammalogist and internationally recognized authority on bats, he earned his Ph.D. in Biology from the University of New Mexico. He is the author of more than 240 scientific publications and 25 books, including the highly acclaimed Handbook of Mammals of the World series. For the past 40 years, he has traveled to more than 65 countries conducting fieldwork and research. He also leads tours for Smithsonian Journeys to prominent natural history destinations across the globe, from Antarctica to Africa. At our annual meeting, he’ll discuss his favorite research subject—bats—and how the work of organizations like the SLCT are helping this misunderstood species to survive.
